The Fribourg-based company Bcomp is specialized in sustainable high technology and supplies components to the mobility and sports industries. A professor at the HEG-FR has followed Bcomp's meteoric rise and is presenting it to students in the form of a case study.
The advanced technology developed by Bcomp's laboratories was quick to impress equipment manufacturers such as Stöckli, K2, Blizzard, and Black Diamond. After attracting the market leaders in winter sports, Bcomp went on to approach manufacturers of surfboards, musical instruments, and watches.
The case study, which was co-written by Marco Dante Biscaro, professor at the HEG-FR, will allow students to step into the shoes of Bcomp's leaders. They will have all the information they need to analyze how the company pulled off a major strategic shift – entering the motor sports market and targeting the highly complex mobility markets. By examining the Bcomp case, management school students will also study leadership and its influence on the company's growth. Growth in the motor sports sector, but on one condition – decarbonization – because sustainability is Bcomp's driving force.
