QoQa's mascot symbolizes the difficulty faced by a Swiss French-speaking company in crossing the Rösti divide to expand its business into the German-speaking part of the country. A graduate of the Master's program in entrepreneurship and two professors from the HEG-FR have published a case study on the subject.
Spoiler alert: French-speaking Switzerland’s beloved otter sank as soon as it hit the waters of the Aare. The familiar tone adopted by the company QoQa and within the community? It didn’t quite take off and lies at the bottom of Lake Zurich. And yet, who in French-speaking Switzerland is not familiar with the QoQa online sales site, which sells a limited amount of products at bargain prices for 24 hours?
Pedro Soares Lima Vieira wrote his Master's thesis about this company, and then went on to write a case study with the help of professors Marco Dante Biscaro and Maurizio Caon. Thanks to their work, students can develop their skills in management, entrepreneurship, strategy, and community management by examining a real Swiss company.
However, this case study is not only used in Swiss classrooms, as it has been published by the International Journal of Case Studies in Management (IJCSM) of HEC Montréal and is included in the Harvard Business Publishing Education catalog. So, in the end, you could say that the QoQa otter swims pretty far.
The order of case studies is subject to a fee. The case study is available in English.
